Botswana’s top athletes and sports media gathered at Fairgrounds in Gaborone on Saturday for the 44th Botswana Sports Awards — a night of pride, celebration, and national recognition.
Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) proudly joined the celebration as Pouring Partner and sponsor of two key award categories: Public Athlete of the Year and Print Journalist of the Year, each valued at P30 000.
As part of its Beyond the Brew programme, KBL’s sponsorship extended beyond beverages; it honoured the stories, strength, and spirit of the individuals who continue to uplift and inspire communities across Botswana.
Thirteen-year-old tennis sensation Malak Macheng made history by winning both Junior Female Athlete of the Year and Public Athlete of the Year. As part of her win, she received a P30,000 cash prize, sponsored by KBL — a testament to the brand’s belief in empowering young talent.
In the media space, Tlotlo Kebinakgabo, a journalist at the Botswana Gazette, was named Print Journalist of the Year, recognised for his powerful storytelling and coverage of local sports development. He too was awarded a P30,000 cash prize.
The awards were presented by Koketso Lefatshe, Country Logistics Lead, and Tjendzimu Maswibilili, Country Marketing Manager, who reiterated the brand’s ongoing role in supporting sport as a driver of community growth and national unity. Also in attendance on behalf of KBL were Dreadson Conrad Mathemba, Route-to-Market Manager, and Bose Mpuchane, Corporate Affairs Manager.
Whether raising a toast to champions or investing in Botswana’s next generation of stars, KBL continues to show what it means to go Beyond the Brew.
