Molokomme resigns from G4S
  • Tsaone Segaetsho

The Board of Directors of G4S Botswana has announced the resignation of Managing Director Mothusi Molokomme, effective 30 April 2026, as he steps down to pursue other interests.

Molokomme, who had initially sought to resign in May 2025 before withdrawing his decision, is currently serving a three-month notice period that will conclude on 30 July 2026.

In a statement, the Board expressed appreciation for his leadership and contribution during his tenure, stating that it “extends its gratitude for his immense contribution and leadership during his tenure.”

Molokomme assumed leadership of the BSE-listed security firm in March 2021, overseeing the company through a challenging financial period marked by operational and earnings volatility. Under his stewardship, the business endured significant losses in 2024 before returning to profitability in 2025.

The company’s latest financial results reflected a notable turnaround, with G4S Botswana reporting a profit before tax in the first half of 2025, reversing a P8.2 million loss recorded during the corresponding period in 2024. Revenue increased by 1.6 per cent to P117.6 million, supported largely by growth in the Manned Security Services division, despite weaker performance in the electronic security segment.

Molokomme’s earlier attempt to step down came amid mounting financial pressures at the company. For the year ended 31 December 2024, G4S Botswana posted a pre-tax loss of P14.4 million, widening from the P12.3 million loss recorded in the previous financial year.

Despite the losses, the company achieved revenue and gross profit growth of seven per cent and nine per cent respectively, driven by price adjustments, the acquisition of new clients, particularly within the mining and retail sectors, as well as improved contract retention levels.
