Director and Coordinator of Bin and Onk Consultancy Agency and organiser of the Palapye Expo, Koketso Vinolia Humu, says the future that societies aspire to will not be shaped by any single sector or nation acting alone.
“Rather, it will be the result of collective efforts, a shared vision, and a commitment to innovation and sustainability at every level of society,” Humu said.
It is this conviction that inspired Bin and Onk Consultancy to establish an annual multi-sector showcase in the heart of Botswana, hosted in the rapidly emerging town of Palapye, under the banner Multi Sectoral Expo Bots. This year’s event was held under the theme: “Thriving for a Dynamic Future: Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainability.”
“At the heart of progress lies innovation, the driving force behind the transformation of economies,” Humu said as she unpacked the theme.
However, she stressed that innovation alone is insufficient. To truly thrive, she said, collaboration is essential, noting that sustainable progress is only achievable when sectors work together.
Humu added that these efforts, reflected in the three pillars of the theme, must be anchored in the principle of sustainability.
“We live in an era where environmental challenges, resource depletion, and climate change are no longer distant threats, they are realities that demand urgent action. To secure a thriving future, we must balance economic growth with environmental stewardship and social responsibility,” she said, invoking ESG considerations.
Bin and Onk Consultancy Agency hosted a highly successful Palapye Expo from Friday through the past weekend. Humu told this publication that Palapye was chosen as the host location because it offers a strategic blend of urban expansion, community integration, and institutional presence, positioning it as a key driver of regional development.
Palapye, with a population of more than 700 000 according to the 2022 Population Census, lies along the Orapa–Letlhakane road leading to the diamond towns of Letlhakane and Orapa. While the town anchors Botswana’s diamond mining belt, it also forms the route to Selebi-Phikwe, a major mining and industrial centre.
“These transport links make Palapye a gateway to major economic zones, enhancing its appeal for investment, infrastructure development, and regional integration,” Humu said.
