Botswana Fibre Networks (BoFiNet)’s digital facility, the Digital Delta Data Centre (DDDC), has been awarded the prestigious Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF) by the globally respected Uptime Institute, headquartered in New York, USA.
Recognised as a global authority on digital infrastructure, the Uptime Institute serves as an independent advisory body dedicated to enhancing the performance, efficiency, and reliability of mission-critical systems through innovation, collaboration, and rigorous certification.
BoFiNet’s certification forms part of the Uptime Institute’s globally recognised Tier Classification System, which has, for over three decades, provided a trusted benchmark for assessing a data centre’s capability to meet organisational demands. The Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF) was officially confirmed by Uptime Institute Professional Services on 23 October 2025, with the formal certificate issued on 29 October 2025.
According to BoFiNet, this recognition affirms that the DDDC meets the exacting standards of the Tier III Concurrently Maintainable criteria. This means the facility is capable of undergoing planned maintenance on its critical infrastructure components without disrupting power or cooling to the computer rooms. The company described the achievement as a testament to its commitment to operational excellence and the delivery of world-class ICT infrastructure in Botswana.
“The attainment of the Tier III Certification marks a defining moment for BoFiNet and for Botswana’s digital transformation journey. It reinforces our commitment to delivering infrastructure that meets international standards, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and resilience for our customers and partners. The DDDC stands as a symbol of Botswana’s digital ambition – a foundation on which the nation’s connected future will be built,” said BoFiNet Acting CEO, Keabetswe Segole.
Segole further noted that the certification underscores BoFiNet’s role in advancing the Government of Botswana’s digital transformation agenda through the provision of cutting-edge, secure, and sustainable infrastructure to support the nation’s evolving digital ecosystem. It also strengthens Botswana’s positioning as an emerging digital hub for Southern Africa, he said.
“Achieving this globally recognised certification is both an exciting and commendable milestone for BoFiNet and a significant achievement for Botswana’s ICT sector and the nation as a whole,” added Segole.
He emphasised that recognition by the Uptime Institute symbolises the country’s collective progress towards a digitally empowered economy, demonstrating that Botswana possesses the capability, talent, and vision to compete confidently on the global stage. “It places Botswana firmly on the world map as a trusted destination for digital investment and innovation. We are proud to play a leading role in building the foundations of a knowledge-based economy powered by resilient digital infrastructure,” he said.
The Tier III Certification from the Uptime Institute is widely acknowledged as a global benchmark of quality and resilience in data centre design and construction. BoFiNet views this milestone as one that further solidifies its position as a leader in delivering state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure that supports Botswana’s socio-economic development and digital transformation ambitions.
